Intent. Purpose. Adaptability.

In September these values began to evolve from the framework of my beliefs, to the guiding principles of my professional and personal decision-making.

Bash started his new “big boy school” two months ago and is loving every part of it. Liz Brunner and I are incredibly lucky to know that he is happy, cared for, and safe for 80% of the work week. We are even more fortunate to have grandparents help on one of the days that he doesn’t start until 11.30.
But there is that other 10%- Monday mornings- which start at 6.30 in our house.

We are two working parents, and I have more flexibility on Monday mornings. Over the summer, Liz and I started mapping out our work calendars around what this new, constantly changing schedule would look like. I have always appreciated the value of time and considered myself to be a good planner.

It is not what I envisioned, harder than I imagined, and it is still changing. But it is working and getting easier each week. Monday mornings are when the Brunner Boys hit the Queen City. 2 months in- Bash is happy, and QCI is benefiting.

However, I discovered that I am not as able as I thought I was to carry this nugget to the Elephants, and then back up to the train, and over to the Lions and then back to the Gorillas. It takes me longer than I want to admit to transition from Rad-Dad to Advisor, so I prioritize different tasks on Monday afternoons.

It is a constant challenge to be present in each of these roles but being intentional, purposeful, and adaptable with my time and decision-making gives me a lot of the tools I need.

When you see a Tiger eat a T-bone at 9.15 on a Monday with a 2yo, the rest of the week is a great journey.
