Becoming comfortable with my tagline

A “business” book I read last year recommended developing a personal tagline, beginning with “I am someone who” to help guide your decision-making around a successful work-life balance.

I am someone who is there to make for breakfast or dinner with my family every day.

Writing that came much easier than figuring out how to put that into practice while still managing clients and building my book.

Forgiving myself if somedays it is a donut at Busken because I have an early meeting or not stressing on the drive home about being thirty minutes late because of a meeting that ran long- are some of daily challenges thrown at a husband, father, and entrepreneur.

That said, living by this tagline this year has already improved my time management, focus, and effectiveness. Efficiency is something I must sacrifice at times, but in doing so it has made me more patient and present.

As a Family Advisor, one day I am toasting a dear family friend and mentor, Susan, at her 5/3 retirement party. Another day I get to spend the day with Bash to celebrate starting pre-school.

These daily trade-offs are at the heart of our work at Queen City Impact: helping families navigate complexity with clarity, alignment, and intention.
